In this article, I’m going to discuss why having a website is important for your business.
Lets face it, we live in an age where the internet is the main source of our information. The first thing we say to our self when we don’t know somethin is “I’ll google that”. The same goes when we are looking for something, most of us look online for the things we need in life and so do your potential customers.
According to the eCommerce Foundation, 88% of consumers will research product information before they make a purchase online or in the store.
It’s this behaviour that implies, that having a website where your customers can look for you is crucial. If you want your company to be successful, you need to have a professional website.
The first thing WHY you need a website is MARKETING.
Well, what exactly is marketing? The definition of the word marketing is:
The action or business of promoting and selling products or services, including market research and advertising.
A good website extends to every aspect of your digital marketing strategy. Every ad, every post, any piece of content really will drive the customers to your website and that’s where you reel them in. That is why it’s important that your website gives customers a clear idea of what your brand is about and what problems can you solve for them.
Let’s look at social media marketing for example. Sure, you can use Facebook for example to reach and engage with potential customers, but you do need a place to send them, when they want more information about your business, you just can’t have everything on social media, but you can on your website.
You can go in a lot more detail about your business, present every product or service you can offer, you can have an online store,.. and so on. That is the difference between social media and your own website. I see a lot of people just having a Facebook page and thinking it’s enough. Well trust me, it’s NOT.
Your website also plays an important role in email marketing. Your website is the perfect place to send your subscribers when they receive your amazing news 🙂
The next thing WHY you need a website is SALES.
Sales are the most important thing for your business right? Right. Only with enough sales can you keep your company up and running.
By having a good online presence with your website, you can reach more customers and the more customers you reach the more sales you can make. But just creating a website isn’t enough, it’s not an automatic thing, but if you do it right (or someone does it FOR you, like me for example 🙂 ) you can then bring in more quality leads who are more likely to buy something from you.
Here comes in SEO (Search engine optimization), the best way for converting your website to sales is having your website optimized so potential customers can find you with less effort. But that’s a whole other topic, I’ll discuss it in another post.
The next thing WHY you need a website is CREDIBILITY.
Were you at any point looking for something on the web and moved on from a website that was poorly built and instead choose a website that looked professional? I know I did.
I’m going to tell you my actual experience. I was out looking for wedding photographers, I opened at least 15 websites and then went through each one and what happened? I closed the websites that were poorly designed. Why? Because I saw it as a reflection of that business. If you market yourself as a “pro” why do it on a poorly designed website that took you 5 minutes to build, probabbly with a template. Tell me why should I trust you, if you don’t make a little effort to present yourself? I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, but I highly doubt it.
Anyway, credibility. In today’s marketplace, businesses without or with a poorly designed websites are seen as less credible. Maybe it’s because most companies (at least those that do well) have a good website, so those that don’t just don’t look as good.
A website helps to build credibility by allowing your customers to se what your brand is about. You can showcase your products/services and tell them what your mission is or better, how can you help them. By presenting your company in this way you are working to establish trust, which is the most important step in building long-lasting customer relationships.
Let’s wrap things up here. I’ll talk a little more on how to achieve the above mentioned things in my next post.
Have a great day, I hope my thoughts were at least a bit helpful.
